I was a bit ignorant, but digging through ich.c reveals something.
Look into your sys/dev/sound/pci/ich.c , look for string "73987", and
you have few choices:

1) increase the DELAY() from 100 to 1000

or

2) replace the "#if 1" with "#if 0"
