Well, the discussion that Robert refers to is one which came up in -hackers. It wasn't a discussion about this exact outcome. It just a discussion from a user trying to build a minimal freebsd system. I think these knobs are a helpful first-cut at trimming down the freebsd distribution, but I wouldn't want to see many more of these added without more of an -arch discussion and some clear idea as to what we're hoping to do and how it should be done (and in particular, how we make sure that whatever is done will remain up-to-date as the system changes). I suspect that Warner is right, and we could get ourselves into a mess if we jump into some easy-looking solution. -- Garance Alistair Drosehn = gad@gilead.netel.rpi.edu Senior Systems Programmer or gad@freebsd.org Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute or drosih@rpi.edu
