I'm trying to install FreeBSD 4.3 (from downloaded CD) on my machine, and it freezes on me. I get through the part where I have to do the kernel config (the very first task to take care of) and then after that it continues booting with a number of harware messages going by, and then it gets to a blue screen (eesh) and dies where it says "Detecting hardware (this could take some time" How long should this take? I let it set for an hour and a half earlier thinking that perhaps it was just "detecting hardware", but it never went any farther. I noticed that when it first hit that screen, my hard drive did a quick read and then all was quiet. I know my hard drive is not dead because I can still boot into my other OSs from it. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be going on?
