I have removed the @dir entries from pkg-plist (they were auto-created by makeplist and I assumed that behaviour was correct with the recent changes). My testing has shown they were not required as you said. I also ran portlint to iron-out a few minor wrinkles. I do not have access to a poudriere environment at the moment, so I am not able to attach the logs sorry.
