I then tried version 6.2-beta2 and 7.0-current on it. Though able to detect the drives and completed the installation, the server crashed when trying to restart from harddisk. I have found that the HP embedded SAS controller was detected by mpt driver on booting up using 6.2-beta2 but not on version 6.1.
