Should I see if I can upgrade the firmware for this drive? Hmm, I just looked around on the manufacturer's web site (Hitachi) and I couldn't find anything about a firmware update for a hard drive. I have tried this drive in a windows nt pc on an adaptec 2940uw. The drive was listed in the adaptec's scan. The controller can verify the media and low level format it without problems, but while nt boots, the systems appears to hang for 10 seconds every other 10 second interval (assuming due to a scsi bus reset). This is an 'SCA-2' drive. I have a high quality SCA converter. Could it be possible that this converter is causing problems? Or do the messages indicate that the problem is with the drive itself? >Can you send the complete dmesg part of the drive and controller?
