You don't want to know.  Originally, as I remember it and I can't look
it up since I lent out that copy of Chris Date's Intro, there waa the
actual Quel language from which grew the Sequel language - not to be
confused with a lazy mans pronunciation of SQL (AKA Structured Query
Language) - in the same time that QBE was surrected.

I can't look it up because that party never returned that copy of the
IBM's series of Systems Programming by Addison Wesley. Alas. My faith
in humanity took a turn for the worse that era.

The point is that from that initial Quel language, from which the Sequel
language spawned, that inspired the SQL definition, became or was Ingres
which came from the very same lap if not lab which PostgreSQL grew.

From Ingres to Postgres one could say.
