Originally, as I remember it and I can't look it up since I lent out that copy of Chris Date's Intro, there waa the actual Quel language from which grew the Sequel language - not to be confused with a lazy mans pronunciation of SQL (AKA Structured Query Language) - in the same time that QBE was surrected. [remember S/38 ?] I can't look it up because that party never returned that copy of the IBM's series of Systems Programming by Addison Wesley. Alas. My faith in humanity took a turn for the worse that era. The point is that from that initial Quel language, from which the Sequel language spawned, that inspired the SQL definition, became or was Ingres which came from the very same lap if not lab which PostgreSQL grew. From Ingres to Postgres one could say. Roelof PS OK, slap me, for I deserve to be punished for glossing things over -- _______________________________________________________________________ eBOAź est. 1982 http://eBOA.com/ tel. +31-58-2123014 mailto:info@eBOA.com?subject=Information_request fax. +31-58-2160293 To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-stable" in the body of the message
