Slight change of topic: 

Has anyone looked at Chuck Cranor's UVM (currently in NetBSD?).  I think I
remember some of the NetBSD folks touting UVM as a more general solution to
the multiple-copy problem in the kernel.

I did browse Chuck's Phd thesis but folding in UVM to FreeBSD
is currently beyond my skill level in the kernel.
