Thanks for that information. I know that the if_wpi driver does some stuff with the bluetooth hardware (I think the bluetooth hardware is part of the wpi hardware) and the BIOS allows some pretty dedicated settings. It really might all blow up if I exchange the hardware. I'll have to give it a try, though. I think I still have an old ipw lying around somewhere (from a broken Thinkpad), if this works I might consider buying ath.
