Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Sender: owner-hackers@freebsd.org X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Precedence: bulk Hello all! This message may not belong on hackers, but I'm not sure where it DOES belong ;-) so... I am looking for information on setting up FreeBSD 2.2-960612-SNAP (or really any of the 2.2 line) to route IPX. I can't seem to locate anything in the archives or manual. If someone would help to set me straight I would be MORE than willing to write up something for the FAQ/manual. My goal is to have IPX routed between two ethernet networks (one is an IP subnet of the primary class C IP network) which are connected via a PPP link. The PPP link has FreeBSD 2.2 boxes at either end doing routing and proxyarping. I know this will entail the following: 1) Assigning IPX network.address numbers to both interfaces on either side of the link. 2) Running IPXrouted on both boxes. 3) Praying nothing goes awry and screws the campus IPX network by passing bad RIP info. It seems to me that doing an ifconfig ed0 ipx class-c-netaddress.mac-address-of-enet-card ifconfig tun0 ipx class-c-netaddress.arbitraryaddress1 on the main box and an ifconfig tun0 ipx subnet-netaddress.arbitraryaddress2 ifconfig ed0 ipx subnet-netaddress.mac-address-of-enet-card on the remote box and then running IPXrouted should do it. Is this the case? - Bruce ======================================================================== || Bruce Walter || CB #7400 McGavran-Greenberg Hall || || Information Technology Support || Chapel Hill, NC 27599-7400 || || Department of Biostatistics || Tel: 919-966-7279 || || University of North Carolina || Fax: 919-966-3804 || ======================================================================== || BSD Unix -- It's not just a job, it's a way of life! || ========================================================================
