My openoffice build failed because an environment variable, mch, wasn't set. This variable probably appears in the standard .cshrc or .login for root, but perhaps not in mine. Shouldn't the build process be based on what info is available from uname, rather than an environment variable that would have to be set by a user or developer? When I saw the breakage, I guessed that if I set mch to i386, it would build.
