We've all read the threads - the fact that BS works *doesn't* mean it's correct :-) I believe it's probably right in your case though - it's behaving as it's supposed to. I think everyone should bear in mind that libreadline accepts *either* BS or DEL as ``erase the character before the cursor'' keys, whereas libedit accepts the terminal erase character only. Of course I can't disagree with the readline author for doing this.
