FYI: I saw this on a local news group... - it might be worth investigating... Also, the NFS3 spec has some info on locking, and how the locking v4 protocol is different to v3, but didn't include v1 info. I didn't see how much detail was there, as I could only read the index (no postscript printer), and ghostview was driving me nuts...
