Please, use xinitrc file provides by x11-wm/xfce4-session. This script launches consolekit session if necessary. Howto to use Slim with Xfce: cp /usr/local/etc/xdg/xfce4/xinitrc ~/.xinitrc in slin.conf (/usr/local/etc/) check line beginning by login_cmd. It should look like this: login_cmd exec /bin/sh - ~/.xinitrc %session -- olivier
