GNOME2 has too many depenedcies. And often fails to be
built if you have old versions of some packages it
depends on.
(I had similar problems two weeks ago)
So, it could better to use portupgrade/portinstall
utilities.
portupgrade -N -R gnome2
Will install gnome2 first upgrading all packages
gnome2 is dependent on.
However, be carefull - recursive upgrading could
download lots of source archives.
