No. Amongst other things, you need to consider the type of network adapter - if any - and the video chipset; these won't affect the boot floppy but *will* affect day-to-day operation. Although XFree86 supports a lot of esoteric chipsets, you'd be surprised to see what crap Olivetti or Acer or Packard Bell will actually put into their computers to keep the costs down. Or perhaps you wouldn't ;) Personally, I would never buy a prefab computer, but not everybody knows how to do that, or is comfortable enough with a screwdriver to do it.
