As soon as I upgraded to XFree 4.0.2 and KDE2, the crackling stopped. The SB Live is crystal clear now playing everything. I did not change any hardware before or after the upgrade. I do not know if this upgrade would have removed the crackling from the Athlon system (as I don't own it anymore), but it did for the Intel. -----Original Message----- From: owner-freebsd-stable@FreeBSD.ORG [mailto:owner-freebsd-stable@FreeBSD.ORG]On Behalf Of Bernhard Valenti Sent: Wednesday, January 24, 2001 6:31 PM To: freebsd-stable@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: cracks with sblive hi, i'm experiencing cracks/pops ( whatever you want to call that ) with the sblive. when playing mp3/wav. i first thought its the mp3's, cause for some time the sblive worked fine in fbsd, but then i played them in windows and the play fine. maybe someone else has the same problems ?(its not alot of cracks, but too much to be able to enjoy musix ;) there is a crack ~every 5-10 seconds when playing mp3s. FreeBSD 4.2-STABLE #7: Tue Jan 16 20:58:19 CET 2001 (had the problems with some severak weeks olds 4.2-stable too) i think the problem appeared when i changed my celeron to a athlon system. maybe its because the usb controller share the irq with the soundcard? (i have my mouse on uhci0) uhci0: port 0xd400-0xd41f irq 5 at device 7.2 on pci0 uhci1: port 0xd800-0xd81f irq 5 at device 7.3 on pci0 pcm0: port 0xdc00-0xdc1f irq 5 at device 11.0 on pci0 any input appreciated, bernhard To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-stable" in the body of the message To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-stable" in the body of the message
