To get the dual headed support you need to replace the mga_drv.o in /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers with the one Geoff mentioned from the Matrox website which is there as a Linux driver. You'll need to roll your own XF86Config file then to get the dual headed part, because the configure stuff doesn't work detect the multihead properly. Following the instructions that Steve Reid posted to get the extra kernel modules http://wop21.wop.wtb.tue.nl/freebsd/hwaccel.html, it then worked for me from there I think. I say I think it works, because I'm perhaps a little apprehensive as I haven't got round to testing it with something that only works with hardware GL, as I'm having problem with quake3arena demo (the obvious test) for various other reasons. And having a fairly nippy workstation it's hard to discern if it's really working (for other things) but things do seem to look better than previously. If someone can recommend something other than the q3demo to test to see if it's really working then I'll give it a whirl later in the day when I have a moment.
