Please refer to the FreeBSD Handbook available on the www.freebsd.org website. But in summary: 1. Run either xf86config or XF86Setup to configure X for your video card 2. Create an .xinitrc file, whose last line calls the window manager you want to use, e.g KDE, Gnome, etc. I use Windowmaker. Install one of these from the ports 3. Install the xwrappers port so you can run X without having the server SETUID. 4. Type startx. Note kernel security level cannot be set too high, or X will not run.
