You sound confused. I don't know what you mean by a "filesystem ID", but I'd think of a magic number. You don't need that for setting up ccd, but you do need the partition to be of type 4.2BSD. Do that with disklabel -e. Of course, you might prefer to try vinum. See http://www.lemis.com/vinum.html. Note that vinum requires the partition to be of type "unused". Requiring it to be 4.2BSD helps you shoot yourself in the foot.
