>Description:

Following a recent ports upgrade including Xiphos 3.1.6 (Makefile
r339992), xiphos no longer starts. Starting from a terminal shows:

  rwpc15> xiphos

  (process:10939): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: invalid (NULL) pointer instance

followed by lots of other stuff concluding with:

  Floating point exception (core dumped)

Pointing gdb(1) at the resulting core file indicates:

  Core was generated by `xiphos'.
Program terminated with signal 8, Arithmetic exception.

and nothing else that makes sense to me. Full output of the startup
failure and (gdb)bt are available at:

  http://www.riverwillow.net.au/~john/xiphos/xiphos_sadness
