Are you experimenting with any pycho-tropic drugs :-)?

There shouldn't be any network activity unless the application is
causing CORBA broadcasts to go out.  Alternatively, this may be DNS
traffic.  Pop up ethereal or tcpdump, and see what the traffic is.
