I am going to leave this issue until after New Years so that I do not cause any avoidable unscheduled interruptions to my vacation. However, I do have a question relating to what can go wrong. Given this /boot/loader.conf: # cat /boot/loader.conf geli_ada1p4_keyfile0_load="YES" geli_ada1p4_keyfile0_type="ada1p4:geli_keyfile0" geli_ada1p4_keyfile0_name="/boot/encryption.key" geli_ada2p4_keyfile0_load="YES" geli_ada2p4_keyfile0_type="ada2p4:geli_keyfile0" geli_ada2p4_keyfile0_name="/boot/encryption.key" geli_ada3p4_keyfile0_load="YES" geli_ada3p4_keyfile0_type="ada3p4:geli_keyfile0" geli_ada3p4_keyfile0_name="/boot/encryption.key" aesni_load="YES" geom_eli_load="YES" geom_eli_passphrase_prompt="YES" vfs.root.mountfrom="zfs:zroot/ROOT/default" kern.geom.label.gptid.enable="0" zpool_cache_load="YES" zpool_cache_type="/boot/zfs/zpool.cache" zpool_cache_name="/boot/zfs/zpool.cache" zfs_load="YES" vmn_load="YES" nmdm_load="YES" if_bridge_load="YES" if_tap_load="YES" # Testing settings for IPMI Serial Over LAN console boot_multicons="YES" What would happen if the line __ boot_multicons="YES" __ was moved to a line above __ geli_ada1p4_keyfile0_load="YES" __ AND after moving it contained a syntax error, say a mismatched quotation mark. What would be the consequences and how would they be repaired? Direct access to a hardwired console is possible in this case. -- *** e-Mail is NOT a SECURE channel *** Do NOT transmit sensitive data via e-Mail Do NOT open attachments nor follow links sent by e-Mail James B.
