This looks much less good. I had EXACTLY the same problem trying to install off a Sony ATAPI cdrom drive. (in my case the CDROM was on the secondary IDE controller) I rapidly gave up and installed over NFS. The good news was that I had little problem actually getting the CDROM to work (data & audio) once I had the system installed and running. tony
