I do this with the following script under -current (rfetch):

  #! /bin/sh
  exec runsocks ftp -pV "$@"

I then set ``rfetch'' in /usr/ports/Mk/bsd.port.mk:

  FETCH_CMD=/usr/local/bin/rfetch
