Yes, @dirrmtry is deprecated.

My only notes would be:
- MASTER_SITES/MASTER_SITE_SUBDIR could be simplified to:
MASTER_SITES= SAVANNAH

- USES should be defined on one line

- Patching Makefile.am isn't necessary, just Makefile.in
