Assuming you don't have the money or inclination to get hold of the X
User's Guide and/or the X Administrator's Guide, you could look at the
following manpage:

	startx(1)
	xdm(1)

You will also want to look at the gunk in:

	/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xinit
	/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xdm

You may be able to use /stand/sysinstall to choose  WM, but snarfing
around in the ports tree is a lot more fun -- see ports/x11-wm . :-)
