Also from the archives, adding this:

  export XCMSDB; XCMSDB=/dev/null

to the netscape startup script solved hang-on-start problem for
me. It doesn't solve the hang-on-exit problem though.  I still
have to kill -9 about half the time to get it to stop.  :(
