You have to type '-h' at the Boot: prompt (which comes up just after the floppy boots) and that should route everything out COM1 at 9600 baud. If you can you might try it. You can safely boot the install floppy; it won't make any changes unless you tell it to. The only drawback is that we use a GUI for the install program, and I know that some GUIs aren't too speech-friendly. Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any success or have any other questions.
