The "next step" for DEVFS, is something that is good enough to be the default if people install from a snapshot. That is the next hurdle we have to clear. There is no "perfect for 100% of the users" solution that doesn't require us to rape and pillage the KISS principle one way or the other. Most of the "perfect for 90%, good enough for 99% and workable for 100% of the users" solutions take a hit in the POLA criteria.
