I woulnd up putting the following 3 lines in /etc/devfs.conf own pass0 root:operator perm pass0 0660 link pass0 scanner The one I did not have in here, when it was not working was the link. Strange that tunning as root sane checks the pass0 device, but noot when running as an ordianry user. -- One of the main causes of the fall of the roman empire was that, lacking zero, they had no way to indicate successful termination of their C programs.
