The problem is not in jdk but because I'm using it incorrect! (I achieve the same results on Solaris7 with Solaris VM (build Solaris_JDK_1.2.2_06, native threads, sunwjit) ) Then my question is how one can manipulate images without awt? I need to read an image (gif), print something on it and return it to the browser. The last part is clear, but what library I can use to do the image manipulations (printing text on them, drawing lines , bars, etc.)?
