Hey

If I'm not the first person with this question I'd like to excuse me.
But I'm new in this mailing list and therefore I don't know what
happend.

I'm trying to install Linux (SuSE distribution) but eachtime I boot the
kernel the system hangs.
I have the following configuration:
- Adaptec 2940UW SCSI-controller BIOS version 1.34.4 (now)
- Linux Kernel version 2.0.36 (at the moment I boot with a older kernel)
- aic7xxx driver version 5.1.5/3.2.4

The following message appears:

(scsi0)<Adaptec AHA-2940x .....> found at PCI 6/0
...
(scsi0)Warning - detected auto-termination
...
(scsi0)cables present (Int-50 YES, Int-68 YES, Ext-68 NO)
(scsi0)downloading sequencer code .... 419 instructions downloaded
scsi0:Adaptec AHA .... 5.1.5/3.2.4
      <Adaptec .....>
scsi: 1 host
(scsi0)BRKADRINT error(0x8): Sequencer Ram Parity Error
(scsi0)SEQADDR=0x19c
Kernel panic: aic7xxx:cn recoverable BRADRINT

I tried everything I could. Changed the SCSI-BIOS configuration used
some kernel parameters. But nothing worked. I also used the debugging
parameters like 'dump_card', 'dump_sequencer' and 'verbose:0x1fff'. But
please don't ask me what messages appeared. I was not able to read all
the infos.

Does anybody know why this error occurs?

On the internet I found a newer driver. Unfortunately I was not able to
install the patches (shame on me, but I'm newbie :-). Where can I find
the complete source of the latest driver (if possible no patches)?

Regards Michael
