This didn't work unfortunately. The problem is actually a bit weird. When I suspend (close the lid or with the key combo) the display is not turned off actually. It does go in some form of suspend however. When I resume, the machine comes back to life again, but the screen goes off at that moment. One other note: At boot time the VGA is reported as: Aug 25 21:15:20 laptop kernel: vga0: at port 0x3c0-0x3df iomem 0xa0000-0xbffff on isa0 And when I load your module: Aug 25 21:12:44 laptop kernel: vga_pci0: port 0xc000-0xc0ff mem 0xfcff0000-0xfcffffff,0xe0000000-0xe7ffffff irq 11 at device 0.0 on pci1 In other words, is it a problem that it is already configured as an ISA device or is that normal? > If this don't solve your problem, I think graphic chip need to be > re-initialized on wakeup. Maybe needs time... Ah, that makes sense. I was searching through the acpi documentation and couldn't find anything about displays actually. So this is fully controlled by the graphics controller? > Some VAIO machines (w/ ATI graphic chip), also have the same problem. I also have an ATI chip. ATI Radeon to be precise, is that a possible explanation?
