Given that you seem to be the most interested person when it comes to
this port, perhaps you should have a look at
http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/porters-handbook/index.html

BTW, there is also a -devel version of this port that you could update
to the 3.1.1 version after you finish the 3.0 version. :)
