I got a benchmark test where the 3ware controller was more than two times faster (mirror) than one of the "smaller" scsi controllers. Thinking at the trouble I hat the last days with my mylex and the attached backplane I would definitely consider the 3ware, not speaking about the price :). 3ware even offers a web admin-interface which is a big advantage because most scsi-RAID controllers lack userland tools at the moment.
