Yesterday I found out that this situation occurs only if I wan't do it in X and not in a virtual console. I use KDM which is a replacement of xdm to log in. If try to find out which account I am using, in X 'logname' says that I am root while 'whoami' says that I am 'szoli' (that's my username). In a virtual console both of them replies with the correct username. Anyone had some idea what happened? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sebestyen Zoltan It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up. szoli@digo.inf..elte.hu But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?
