Sorry, that got away too fast. Disable ACPI in /boot/loader.conf, and add a line for the mount device hint.acpi.0.disabled=3D"1" vfs.root.mountfrom=3D"ufs:/dev/ada0s1" >From this I conclude your device is not a GPART but old fashioned slice/partition disk. Post your kernconf.
