Sure, but the problem is that CVSup won't delete anything it
doesn't "own".  If someone legitimately deletes a file
from the sources between the time you last cvsup'd and the
establishment of your new cvsup metadata, CVSup will refuse
to delete the file(s).

I've seen this cause problems, albeit more often wrt
ports/*/*/patches
