I wasn't sure what to do with this one, so I forwarded it to the FreeBSD-alpha list, asking if it were appropriate material for the list. Nobody said it wasn't, and some answered, so I suppose that means "if you have problems with an Alpha, send your message to FreeBSD-alpha".
