What you are seeing, if the kernel doesn't have built-in support for your devices, is probably just a name string passed from the card on a PCI probe. This doesn't mean the device is useful just yet. In fact, the software that comes with FreeBSD is a million times better than those Windows firewalls (like Zone Alarm). Check the man pages on "ipfw" or "ipf"... I personally prefer ipfw, it seems a bit easier to configure and work with. Some people swear by ipf, though. Again, please work it up the chain that customers don't want Intel putting soldered-in video and sound on your motherboards.
