Unfortunately, this is in violation of the BIND RFC, which explicity allows only [A-Za-z0-9] and '-' characters. To get over the problem, and allow WWW users to see your pages, can I suggest that you change your zone file to: sc-axp2 IN A 205.227.129.164 sc_axp2 IN CNAME sc-axp2 www IN CNAME sc-axp2 or to sc-axp2 IN A 205.227.129.164 sc_axp2 IN A 205.227.129.164 www IN CNAME sc-axp2 Please note that the www CNAME must point to the entry with the '-', not the one with the '_'. These solutions allow a migration from '_' to '-' without breaking any existing systems. It would of course also be appropriate to change the PTR record to point to sc-axp2. regards, Daniel O'Callaghan
