I just did a rsync on ftp.FreeBSD.org, and rsync again reset my 700 to 755 on pub/FreeBSD/releases/i386/4.5-RELEASE/ Have you changed the permissions on ftp-master ? > cvsupd, rsyncd and ftpd can now read gid 'archive' on ftp-master.
