(I don't use windows much, that was for my > wife) You probably have DNS lookups pointing to your ISP. I have all of my local machines in my hosts tables. I mostly use Win2000 Server/Pro and FreeBSD. I don't have a DNS server setup locally. For 4 or 5 machines, I see no point.
