I personally don't think we need a kernel configurator. Well, we could try to think about what could be improved on the current scheme. It can be a bit tricky to deal with changes such as new devices, new names for old devices, the xxintr stuff going away, etc. I don't really have an answer, except that I think it might involve dropping the idea of "copy GENERIC, then edit" and changing to more of a split system such as rc.conf/rc.local is now. I think that once it's sufficiently improved for the "edit a file by hand" case, it will be easier to make an optional fancy front-end. -- Christopher Masto Director of Operations NetMonger Communications chris@netmonger.net info@netmonger.net http://www.netmonger.net "Good tools allow users to do stupid things." -- Clay Shirky To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-current" in the body of the message
