FreeBSD dosen't really care what kind of scanner you're running it seems. :) BUT, SANE, the program you'll probally use to run your scanner is compatible with a nice long list. There is also a driver that supports HP scanners, I don't know if it supports the new 'Plug and Pray' scanners (5p, 6p, etc...)
