A commit bit upgrade has never before been announced in the news box. This bumped off the Foundation Announcement about the December newsletter from the front page of the website. I think by announce he meant a mail to developers@FreeBSD.org, as that is the custom. In general, I try to keep other news items here so that new committer announcements don't dominate the project news box. It looks silly to have our front page dominated by 'new committer' announcements, which are irrelevant for most visitors to our website. (I still think they belong, but I don't want to make the problem worse by also adding commit bit upgrades to the box). - Murray
