mplayer (unlike mpv) is too old school to support VAAPI or VDPAU via -vo
opengl.
VAAPI also supports encoding but I can only confirm it works on i965 +
drm-next.

Not yet: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3D1210729

In some cases layers.acceleration.force-enabled=3Dtrue may provide better
compositing performance. However, I suspect the default won't change before
WebRender circa FF57+.
