Just continuing the saga of "find the distfile", I come up with the following
ports using DIST_SUBDIR : (note I have no jp- or ru- ports here)

/usr/ports//cad/chipmunk/Makefile:DIST_SUBDIR=  chipmunk
/usr/ports//news/slnr/Makefile:DIST_SUBDIR=     slnr
/usr/ports//misc/astrolog/Makefile:DIST_SUBDIR=    astrolog
/usr/ports//misc/mmv/Makefile:DIST_SUBDIR=      ${DISTNAME}
/usr/ports//mail/mutt.with_pgp/Makefile:DIST_SUBDIR=    Mutt
/usr/ports//mail/mutt/Makefile:DIST_SUBDIR=     Mutt
/usr/ports//print/xdvi/Makefile:DIST_SUBDIR=    xdvi
/usr/ports//print/teTeX/Makefile:DIST_SUBDIR=   teTeX
/usr/ports//print/pkfonts/Makefile:DIST_SUBDIR= pkfonts
/usr/ports//print/virtualpaper/Makefile:DIST_SUBDIR=    virtualpaper-1.4
/usr/ports//math/blas/Makefile:DIST_SUBDIR=     ${DISTNAME}
/usr/ports//math/eispack/Makefile:DIST_SUBDIR=  ${DISTNAME}
/usr/ports//math/linpack/Makefile:DIST_SUBDIR=  ${DISTNAME}
/usr/ports//net/dgd/Makefile:DIST_SUBDIR=       dgd
/usr/ports//net/dgd-lpmud/Makefile:DIST_SUBDIR= dgd
/usr/ports//net/dgd-net/Makefile:DIST_SUBDIR=   dgd
/usr/ports//x11/XFree86/Makefile:DIST_SUBDIR=   xc
/usr/ports//x11/auis/Makefile:DIST_SUBDIR=      auis
/usr/ports//x11/XFree86-contrib/Makefile:DIST_SUBDIR=   xc
/usr/ports//www/netscape3/Makefile:DIST_SUBDIR=    gold

Now I'm basically stuck parsing every makefile to manage a very
small minority of ports. Anyone have any ideas that might make locating
distfiles easier?

Can you put comments in the 'md5' file without breaking anything? A
line like '# DIST_SUBDIR=foo' would be a great help. I realise that
it defeats the purpose of the ${DISTNAME} subs above...
